3 Continents meet… in Ankara

Nine international artists converged on Ankara to display their works while exchanging various artistic ideas rooted in their specific cultures. 3 Continents meet in Ankara opened at Detay Sanat Galerisi; the exhibition was organized by artists Feyza Gürleşen and Beata Zalewska.

[kopa_blockquote border=”left”]3 Continents meet… convey the possibility of existence outside of the art world’s central locations with continental encounters. The idea draws on the argument that differences between cultures, identities, and geographies can create a great artistic sentence without melting.  This platform emphasizes the idea that we are all part of a great collage, regardless of continents and transnational borders.  Feyza Gürleşen[/kopa_blockquote]

The participating artists were Atilla Ilkyaz, Feyza Gürleşen of Turkey, Ron Shelton, USA; Beata Zalewska, Poland; Aysun Sener, Turkey; Ayse Bilir, Turkey; Aysegul Turk, Turkey; Carlos Cabral, Portugal; Ceren Selmanpakoğlu, Tukey, and Elvan Serin of Turkey.

HAF: Hello Feyza, first I want to thank you for including my work in this show, it was a great honor for me. Is this the first  3 Continents exhibition, and do you plan to continue this collaboration in the future?

Feyza: This is the second one, the first exhibition was ın Tczew ın Poland, and yes we are going to Warsaw but for the 4th show. We’d like to do the 3rd exhibition ın a different continent, ıf we can find a gallery. This project will never end but will extend as long as new artists from new continents participate in our meeting.

HAF: How does the gathering of art from 3 Continents shape our global community?

Feyza: Any artwork couldn’t affect the world’s condition in art history; many of them tried after the 19th century, but couldn’t. So, our project just tries to say that no matter what differences we have as cultural, as color, as social, as geographic as economic, and so on, and no matter, we are the ring of global art marketing. Artists don’t need to have strong global relations to create; they just create without thinking about where I will exhibit it, how can I sell them, how can I enter to global marketing circle, and so on. So, we become one under the umbrella of art without losing the characteristic of our individualism.
