HAF member/artist Jean-Marc Calvet of Nicaragua will be participating in a show at the Cell Theater: “Your Little Face” a Valentine Gesamtkunstwerk shall feature wine, music, visual art eye candy, and a pageant of sorts. Gesamthkunstwerk is of German origins which means, total work of art. The theme “Your Little Face” derives from love letters to your younger self – thinking about adolescence and sexuality and changes in world view as the world changes drastically, looking back and looking ahead. Calvet will be joined by artists, Sebstien Aurillon, R.d.H, and Mari Yamagiwa. Calvet will be showing his work titled, Let it Die, 100 x 100cm mixed media on canvas. Let it Die addresses the plight of immigrants who are struggling around the world. The show opens February 9th at the Cell, 338 W. 23rd Street NYC.
I have one piece, “Let it Die” in this show. I chose this painting because it talks about the immigrants when they cross the sea and sometime die; and for me the day of love and friendship. Jean-Marc Calvet
