HAF Connects: Art Hat Workshop

Plastic. It’s everywhere. It’s in our homes, our waterways, our schools, and even in us. While the challenges of plastic can feel overwhelming, the conversation about it doesn’t have to be.  We invite you to join us and a few of our friends for a virtual workshop to learn how to make a plastic-embellished art sculpture yourself and/or with your family. Sustainable Cleveland and Upcycle Parts Shop, join Cleveland multi-media artist Ron Shelton, in hosting this workshop to learn about the issue of plastic pollution, discuss how reduction and reuse are important, and showcase a plastic upcycling project. The virtual workshop is scheduled for September 12, 2020, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT.

Ron will introduce his internationally recognized Art Hat project, where handcrafted wire caps are embellished with plastics from home waste streams to elevate the issue of plastics pollution while creating art and beauty.

Workshop participants will be invited to start a 2-week plastic waste challenge in their home (more details to come) as well as sign up for an Art Hat for your own embellishment project!

This workshop is sponsored by Common Ground by Cleveland Foundation.
